Planson named Business Friend of Education

Planson International, a global IT solutions provider to international organizations focused on development, sustainability and emergency response, has received the Business Friend of Education Award from the Maine School Boards Association.

The firm is woman-owned, headquartered in New Gloucester with offices in Denmark, and has been a generous and active partner with MSAD 15.

Planson was nominated for the award by the MSAD 15 School Board and it was presented at the Maine School Management Association’s Annual Fall Conference in Augusta on Oct. 24.

A partial list of what the company has done with and for local schools serving the Gray-New Gloucester area includes:

  • Purchasing a van for the high school alternative education program.
  • Providing more than $30,000 to help build a greenhouse to support hands-on science education.
  • Hosting paid high school interns to have a hands-on, career-based educational experience.
  • Supporting a student-led local history project by paying for the archiving of historical data.
  • Hosting middle school students for multi-day Rube Goldberg projects with Planson professional staff.

The award was presented by MSBA President Kim Bedard and received on behalf of Planson by Human Resource Manager Todd West.
