Planning for and Developing Testimony Regarding Legislation

Each Legislative session many opportunities are presented for local school board members and superintendents/directors to offer testimony or connect with legislators regarding legislative bills that have been introduced. Most often this opportunity is with the Legislative Committee where the bill is being heard. However, there are other times when direct contact with your local Representative or district Senator is very beneficial in order for your views to be heard prior to a vote being taken in the House or Senate.

Vicki Wallack, MSMA’s Director of Communications and Government Liaison has prepared a video accompanied by PowerPoint slides that demonstrate the process for preparing and providing testimony, as well as how to make appropriate contact with your Representative or Senator.
