School Board members gathered in Augusta on April 16 to ask their Senators to oppose three labor bills that will make education policy negotiable, allow teachers to strike and repeal the current prohibition in law over binding arbitration around salaries and benefits for public employees.
Together the bills take away local control of public schools; diminish services for children; and, would cost local property taxpayers millions of dollars.
Senators took time out of a packed legislative schedule to talk one-on-one with board members from their district and ask questions. School Board members helped provide the background on what impact the controversial proposals would have on the public schools in their district.
