Why a Safety Committee

 The MSMA Workers' Compensation Trust Fund recognizes the importance of loss control activities. MSMA provides this service through its own in-house Loss Control Specialist. The Loss Control Specialist works with each member school system to identify hazards and reduce the number of losses.

Loss control is an important asset to each school system and focuses upon reducing potential losses before they may occur. Examples of services provided are:

* On-site safety and health program evaluations
* Analysis of past losses, as well as current trends
* Evaluation of current safety practices, activities and policies
* Assistance with Safety and Health Policy Development
* On site safety training seminars
* Supervisory Safety Training
* Video tape training library with over 50 titles, many specific to school systems
* Indoor Air Quality Reviews
* Ergonomic Workplace Evaluations - (Computer workstations and others)
* Industrial Hygiene Consultation
* Accident Investigation
* Safety Committee development and support
* Risk Management Consultations
* Loss Control activities tailored to each school systems needs
