The legislative committees of both the
Maine School Boards Association and Maine School
Superintendents Association have been meeting regularly since
January to take positions on the proposed bills that affect
school operations. These meetings form the basis for testimony given by Maine
School Management Association staff before the Education
Committee and other committees that hear bills relating to
schools. That testimony is designed to not only inform
legislators of the associations’ opinion, but to give them
practical information on how proposals affect schools. The MSBA and MSSA Legislative Committees have weighed in on
more than 150 bills so far this year, or about 10 percent of
the number printed to date. The legislative session is
scheduled to end on June 17.
