FOA training |

School board members, as elected officials, must complete a
course of training on the Freedom of Access Law. One way to do
it is by going to the state FOA website and conducting a
thorough review of the material on the “Frequently Asked
Questions” page. The website is at www.maine.gov/foaa/faq/.
Once you have completed your training, you should fill out a
“Certificate of Completion" and send it to the
superintendent’s office for filing. Click below for a copy

The mission of the Maine School Boards Association is to enhance the education of all students in Maine's public schools by identifying and serving the needs of local school boards through board development, information and support services, and by advocating for all Maine public schools at
the state and national levels. The Association’s purpose is to:

serve and represent the School Boards comprising the Association
-
promote and maintain local control of public schools
-
promote closer cooperation among the individual School Boards
-
represent the combined interest of School Boards in the legislative process
-
cooperate with other agencies in the State interested in improvement of public education
-
provide information for School Boards and the general public about the needs and accomplishments of the public schools
-
sponsor, develop and encourage those projects and programs that promote better public education in Maine
